People Operations Specialist

Our client, a wellness brand, is hiring a People Operations Specialist to join their team in NYC on a hybrid schedule (Tuesday-Thursday).  The person in this role will serve as a central point of contact for the client's global workforce and a vital partner to the client's People Team. This is a temporary role slated for approximately 4 months will operate under a part time schedule, 25 hours a week.

Job Duties Include:

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries on People/HR-related topics, ensuring timely and effective resolution, and escalating to subject matter experts when appropriate
  • Coordinate core People/HR processes such as onboarding, benefits and perks administration, and performance review cycles
  • Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, including paperwork, I-9 compliance, and system setup
  • Administer policies, programs, and practices to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local labor regulations
  • Provide operational support on various People/HR projects, collaborating with the broader team as needed
  • Maintain accurate employee data within HR systems and generate reports for business leaders on request
  • Support the team with administrative tasks such as employment verifications and drafting employment change letters
  • Additional duties as needed and assigned


Job Qualifications Include:

  • 3+ years of experience working in a dynamic HR/People team environment
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to understand and respond to employee needs
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and work efficiently
  • Effective communication skills, with a focus on delivering high-quality employee support and consistent follow-up
  • A collaborative mindset, thriving when working closely with colleagues
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential employee data and sensitive matters
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting deadlines reliably


Salary: $25 - $27.50/hr
