Working with a Recruiter & General Job FAQ
How should I prepare for my first meeting with a recruiter?
Your first conversation with a recruiter at PCG is an exploratory conversation where they will ask you to discuss your experience and your goals. To prepare, you should ensure that you put together any questions you have about the process, any information on roles you have seen on our website that you are interested in, and be ready to explain anything in your resume that may not seem straightforward.
What questions will a recruiter ask in our first interview?
During your first conversation with our recruiters, you will have a general conversation to understand your resume, experience, career goals, the type of roles you’re looking for, salary expectations, etc. After that, if and when you move forward to interview with our clients, you will be asked questions more specific to the role you’re interviewing for.
When will I hear back from a recruiter about a role I applied for?
When you apply for a role through PCG and our team feels that you would be a great fit, somebody will reach out as soon as possible (generally 1-2 days). If you have applied for a role that the team does not feel that you are a fit for, you will be entered into our database for us to contact you for future roles.
What happens when I apply for a job on your LinkedIn, website, Indeed, or other job board? What if I didn't hear back?
When you apply for a job with PCG via any of our job boards, our recruiters will review your resume. If they feel that you are a match for that role, or another role they’re working on, you will be contacted to set up a time to speak further. If not, you will be entered into our database so that you can be contacted for other roles as the opportunity arises.
How often should I follow up about new opportunities?
If you are working with a recruiter at PCG, they will be your best resource for current and new opportunities. If you haven’t worked with a recruiter on our team yet, you can set up a job alert or contact us to be connected with a recruiter on our team.

To stay up to date on the latest opportunities, you can set up job alerts on our website: https://www.pyramidcg.com/job-alerts. Here you can set up an alert to stay informed for roles in your location and area of interest.

What is the difference between temp, temp to perm, perm and "freelance” roles?
Temporary, or temp, roles are short-term positions that have a start and end date without the potential to continue or become permanent. These roles can last for a weekend or a year, but there will always be an end date. Through PCG, if you work a temp role, you may be placed on our payroll while working for our client.
Temp to perm roles are short-term positions that have the ability to extend or become permanent based on candidate performance and the needs of the business.
Permanent, or perm, roles where you are hired directly by our client with the intention of you remaining in that position without a fixed end date. These positions operate the same way as if you applied and were hired directly from a company without working with a staffing agency.
Freelance roles are similar to temp roles in the sense that they are short term, but these roles are generally project based and paid via 1099. Pyramid Consulting Group does staff Freelance roles occasionally.
If you have further questions about these types of employment or what you are looking for, please contact us!
Can temporary jobs lead to full-time employment?
Yes! PCG has many roles that are “temp to perm,” meaning that based on performance and the needs of the business the position may become permanent. Other times, even if a position does not start out as “temp to perm,” a temporary position may become permanent if the needs of the position/business change.
Can I still receive benefits in a temp role?
Yes, as a temporary employee working with our clients, you are eligible for PCG benefits on the first of the month after 60 days of employment. Some of the benefits temporary employees are able to receive may include holiday/vacation/sick pay, virtual counseling, and medical/dental/vision benefits.
Working with a Staffing Agency
How can a staffing agency help me find a job?
As a staffing agency, Pyramid Consulting Group works with candidates to review your experience, career goals, and interests to connect you with our clients and open opportunities that match what you are working for. Staffing agencies have knowledge and connections in their industry as well as access to open roles that may not be made public, giving you an added advantage in the job market.
What is the process of working with a staffing agency?
To begin the process, you will need to apply directly to one of our open roles or submit your resume to be contacted. A recruiter will then be in touch to discuss your experience and interests and will provide information about any roles available that match what you’re looking for.
If we have a role that we feel is a match, we will submit your information to our client. If our client is interested, you will move on to interview directly with them and follow their interview process. After their interview process, you will either receive a job offer or you will move onto the process for a new role.
If we do not have a role that we feel is a match, we will keep your information in our database so that as new opportunities become available, we can contact you to discuss your interests. We also suggest setting up job alerts so you may contact your recruiter of interest if new jobs become available.
Can I apply for more than one role with a staffing agency?
Yes, you are able to apply for as many roles as you’re interested in while working with PCG. Our recruiters will let you know which would be the best fit for you based on their knowledge of your goals and the client.
Can I work with multiple agencies at a time?
Yes, you are able to work with multiple staffing agencies at a time, but best to start with one so you and the recruiter can take the time to review your resume and discover the best path to your next career move.
If you do work with multiple agencies, you should maintain communication on jobs that you are applying to or interviewing for on your own or with another agency to ensure the best experience possible.
What are the advantages of working with an agency?
There are several advantages and benefits to working with a staffing agency. Staffing agencies have industry expertise that can help you navigate the job market and the industries that you are looking for positions in.
Recruiters also are often given access to positions that have not yet been made public, giving you early access and the ability to apply before others. Our team is also able to take the time to discuss you and your experience with our clients to explain why you would be a fit for their company, even if your resume is not a perfect match for what they are looking for.
