Our client, a rapidly growing premium home and textile retailer, is seeking a is General Manager of Curtains to take full ownership of this category. This is a remote role, but candidates must be commutable to NYC. This individual will operate as the “CEO” of the category, with end-to-end accountability for building, scaling, and driving profitability.
The role oversees the entire lifecycle of the business — from product strategy and supply chain to commercial performance and the development of a scalable service model (including consultation, measurement, and installation) as the company continues to grow its physical presence.
This is a highly visible leadership role suited for someone who thrives in both strategic and hands-on environments.
Business Ownership & Strategy
- Own full P&L and performance of the category
- Develop and execute the overall commercial strategy across products and services
- Establish pricing frameworks, margin structure, and profitability targets
- Balance growth opportunities with operational complexity, cost, and customer experience
Product, Production & Services
- Lead the product roadmap in partnership with cross-functional teams
- Build and scale a service offering, including:
- In-home consultations
- Measurement and installation services
- Retail and in-home customer experiences
- Ensure all offerings are operationally efficient, brand-aligned, and commercially viable
- Deliver a high-touch experience while maintaining scalability
E-commerce & Customer Experience
- Oversee the full digital customer journey for the category
- Define how products are discovered, evaluated, and purchased online
- Partner with E-commerce, Product, and Design teams to:
- Improve presentation of customizable/complex products
- Simplify the decision-making process for customers
- Drive conversion while preserving a premium experience
- Bridge gaps between online and offline experiences (e.g., sampling, visualization, measurement)
- Ensure digital channels integrate seamlessly with service offerings
Operations & Execution
- Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain to improve timelines and reliability
- Build processes that are practical and scalable
- Take initiative in driving key projects forward when ownership is unclear
- Identify and eliminate friction across the customer journey
Commercial & Go-to-Market
- Partner with Retail, E-commerce, and other sales channels to define go-to-market strategy
- Shape how the category is presented both online and in physical environments
- Establish success metrics as the brand expands its footprint
- Embrace a test-and-learn approach, iterating quickly
Collaboration & Leadership
- Lead cross-functional initiatives without reliance on large teams
- Act as a decisive leader with strong ownership mentality
- Partner closely with internal stakeholders to ensure brand consistency
- Drive momentum, accountability, and high standards through execution
Job Qualifications
- Experience owning or scaling a business unit, category, or P&L
- Strong commercial acumen paired with product and operational expertise
- Background in fast-paced, resource-constrained environments (e.g., startups, DTC brands, founder-led companies)
- Proven ability to both lead strategically and execute tactically
Salary: $200-250K
