Director of Retail & Merchandising

Our client, a  luxury RTW brand, is seeking a  Director of Retail & Merchandising  to join the team in  New York City.  This is a full-time permanent position in-office 5 days per week. This role requires 30% travel both domestically and internationally.

Job Duties Include:

  • Lead multi-store retail performance, overseeing sales, profitability, payroll, inventory productivity, and overall operational results.
  • Develop and execute merchandising and inventory strategies, including seasonal buys, sales forecasting, and open-to-buy planning to support financial goals.
  • Guide and support store leadership in client development, team performance, and delivering a high standard of service and in-store experience.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Creative teams to align retail execution with broader business objectives and ensure consistent brand presentation.

Job Qualifications Include:

  • Significant leadership experience in luxury or premium retail environments with oversight of multiple store locations.
  • Strong background in merchandising, buying, inventory planning, and retail financial management with full P&L accountability.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret retail KPIs such as sales productivity, margin, inventory turn, and payroll efficiency.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing teams while fostering a collaborative and service-driven culture.

Salary: $180K + bonus
