Our client, a clean beauty brand, is hiring a Director of Regulatory Affairs to lead the ongoing development and implementation of regulatory strategies and processes to ensure the brand's products meet global compliance standards.

This is a hybrid role (2 days a week in-office in Los Angeles, CA, and 3 days work from home). The ideal candidate is a highly detail-oriented, organized leader with a deep and broad understanding of global regulatory frameworks in the beauty industry.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Direct and manage all regulatory components of product development, ensuring adherence to global standards such as FDA (USA), EU Cosmetic Regulations, Health Canada, APAC guidelines, Middle East, and AUS/NZ requirements.
  • Maintain compliance across the existing product portfolio, confirming alignment with international retailer requirements, distribution standards, and ingredient restrictions.
  • Guarantee MoCRA compliance, including facility registration, product listings, adverse event reporting, and adherence to GMP under FDA regulations.
  • Create and implement regulatory strategies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support successful product launches.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of product registration dossiers for both domestic and global markets.
  • Oversee Good Face Project software and ensure proper document control processes are in place.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory matters with external partners, including consultants, manufacturers, suppliers, and government agencies.
  • Keep comprehensive product documentation updated, including PIFs, safety assessments, raw material data, certifications, and SOPs; identify and address any missing documentation or processes.
  • Review and approve product labels, ingredient disclosures, and marketing claims for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Track global regulatory changes and trends to proactively mitigate potential impacts on the portfolio and new product development.
  • Support innovation and sustainability initiatives by navigating regulatory pathways for new ingredients, technologies, and packaging solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—PD, quality, marketing, legal, and supply chain—to align efforts throughout ideation and commercialization for cosmetics, OTC, and monographed products.
  • Provide guidance on regulatory considerations for sustainability claims and certifications (e.g., vegan, cruelty-free, eco-friendly).
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Job Qualifications Include:

  • 10+ years experience in regulatory affairs for global personal care products.
  • Proven experience with beauty industry compliance, including Sephora retailer standards.
  • BA/BS degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Deep understanding of MoCRA and international cosmetic labeling and packaging regulations (US, Canada, EU, APAC).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; capable of working effectively across multiple disciplines and thriving in a dynamic environment.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage numerous responsibilities, tasks, and deadlines with precision and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities combined with solid business acumen.
  • Adaptable and flexible, able to pivot quickly when priorities shift.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex regulatory information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and regulatory platforms.
  • Must reside in Los Angeles, CA.
