Our client, skincare brand sold DTC and in Sephora, is hiring a Controller to join their team in Brooklyn on a hybrid schedule (2 days in office). This role will report to the CFO/Head of Operations and will oversee all aspects of accounting and financial reporting. A key emphasis will be on cost of goods sold (COGS), inventory management, and co-manufacturing operations. This position requires close collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain, and senior leadership to provide financial accuracy, clarity, and support as the business expands. The right candidate will be equally skilled in high-level financial planning and in handling day-to-day accounting tasks.
Job Duties Include:
- Direct the monthly close process and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in line with GAAP.
- Manage accounting functions including AP, AR, general ledger, and cost accounting.
- Work cross-functionally with Operations and Supply Chain to strengthen visibility into co-manufacturing agreements and performance.
- Lead COGS tracking, standard costing, and margin reporting across product categories.
- Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and compliance procedures.
- Monitor and oversee cash flow reporting and projections.
- Support annual budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Manage payroll administration in partnership with the company’s PEO.
- Coordinate external audits and maintain relationships with auditors.
- Recommend and implement process improvements, automation, and ERP system enhancements.
Job Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including 3+ years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role.
- Industry background in skincare, beauty, or consumer packaged goods.
- Experience with co-manufacturing financial processes and supply chain cost management.
- Strong knowledge of inventory, COGS, and standard costing in a manufacturing or outsourced production environment.
- Ability to balance strategic financial oversight with hands-on accounting tasks.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced Excel proficiency; ERP experience required (QBO and NetSuite strongly preferred).
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a high-growth, entrepreneurial setting.
Salary: $130k - $155k annually
