Our client, a food service company, is hiring a Payroll Clerk to join their team in NYC on a hybrid schedule (1 day per week while contracting: if the role becomes permanent, the hybrid schedule is 3 days per week in-office). This is a temporary, full-time (40 hours/week) role, with potential for conversion to a permanent role based on performance and the needs of the business.
Job Duties Include:
- Manage a high-volume payroll email inbox, providing prompt and accurate support to employees and stakeholders
- Process payroll for multiple legal entities ensuring precision and efficiency
- Perform thorough payroll audits to ensure accuracy before finalizing submissions
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations, including 401(k) contributions, garnishments, and other payroll-related items
- Support ad hoc reconciliations, projects, and audit requests as needed
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies effectively and in a timely manner
- Contribute to special projects, process optimization initiatives, ERP upgrades, internal controls, and analytical reporting
- Ad hoc duties as needed and assigned
Job Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field (preferred)
- 3+ years of payroll experience with an hourly, multi-state population
- Experience processing payroll for 500+ employees
- Advanced Excel skills, including functions like Vlookup, Xlookup, Sumifs, and pivot tables
- Strong organizational skills, with experience handling large data sets and creating efficient workpapers
- Familiarity with Workday and ADP is strongly preferred
Salary: $33 - $34.60/hr
